Sunwood Rafter Base Gasket
Sunwood Rafter Base EPDM Gasket
Rafter-mounted EPDM gasket for glazing systems
The Sunwood Rafter Base Gasket is an EPDM glazing gasket designed to sit on top of timber rafters, providing a continuous seating and weather seal for glass or polycarbonate roofing sheets before the main glazing bar cap is installed. It prevents water ingress at the rafter interface, improves glazing alignment, and forms part of a complete rafter glazing system accommodating sheets of any thickness.
The gasket incorporates a removable central pip (tongue) that can be push-fitted into a pre-routered groove in the timber rafter, locking the gasket in place uniformly along its full length. Where routing is not required, the pip can be torn off cleanly and the gasket mechanically fixed using screws, nails, or staples.
Features & Benefits
- Removable Central Pip – push-fit into a routered rafter groove or remove for mechanical fixing
- Improved Alignment – gasket stays straight and centred along the full rafter length
- Consistent Weather Seal – no gaps between fixing points
- EPDM Construction – durable, UV-stable, and weather resistant
- Acts as Glazing Seat – supports and seals glass or polycarbonate sheets
- Compatible System Component – designed to integrate with Sunwood glazing bars
- Exact Lengths – cut to order from 50m rolls
Did you know? Push-fit alignment using the central pip prevents point loads and uneven seating commonly caused by staples or nails, improving both sealing performance and finish.
